- Profile:
“My name is Sangeetha Param. I am from Bangalore, India. I am an author, poet, and a Motivational Speaker who advocates on Mental Health and its importance being a survivor.
I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder in November 2014. Since then I have been on psychiatric and psychological care under experts.
I started pursuing writing as self therapy and published 2 books, ‘Key to Acceptance’ and ‘Echoes in my Attic’ in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Towards the mid of 2018, I realized I could convert my weakness of having a diagnosis to making it my strength by talking about it.
Mental Health is a huge stigma in our society and hardly spoken about. Even when spoken, it is shut down with various reasons. I take my own example to share with the world on Mental Health. I do not address myself as a patient but a Survivor because every single day is a challenge.
Having faced most difficulties during my adolescence. I realized teenagers and young adults are subjected to depression and Mental illness as they are not educated with enough information on this subject.
I stand up to my diagnosis by talking openly about my difficulties and my strengths hoping that individuals seek help at the right time.
My passion for Motivational Speaking flourished as I started delivering talks in many schools and colleges eventually having an opportunity to speak at TEDx SMIT, TEDx SIT, and Tedx Youth SNIS along with representing India in 6 international Conferences on Mental Health.
My vision is to break the stigma on Mental health with my little contribution to this field.” - LinkedIn Profile: Sangeetha Param
