Speaker Detail : Sanjai Banerji is an ultra-marathoner, certified mountaineer and author of four books, Crossing the Finish Line (Running), The Mountaineering Handbook (Mountaineering), Nobody Dies Tonight (Fitness in the Covid-19 Pandemic), a novel Justice on the Hills (Based on a fictional account of Gorkhaland) translated into Nepali, German, French and Filipino languages, and three short stories Guardians of Nathu La, Krishna’s Quest for Kilimanjaro with his Team and A Journey of Friendship and Triumph published in three anthologies. He recently became on 7th March 2024, at 64 years the oldest Indian with four medical conditions to summit the highest point of the African Continent at Mount Kilimanjaro (Uhuru Peak) 19,341 feet. Earlier in 2021, Sanjai became the oldest Indian at 61 years to complete the Basic Mountaineering Course with an A Grade. Sanjai Banerji has a B.Sc (Zoology) and MBA (Production) and is a gold medalist in journalism with 36 years of experience in the steel, paper, and cement sectors. He retired on December 31, 2020 as General Manager- Corporate Image from Prism Johnson Limited and now lives in Bhopal with his wife Sanjukta. Sanjai has run several marathons and ultra marathons on different terrains on road, forest, hills, high altitude and inside a stadium. At the age of 59 in 2019, he became the oldest Indian to run three of the biggest marathon events in Asia in Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
