I was born to very caring and supportive parents 70 years ago and my life has been a whirlwind of happy and exciting adventures. My parents were God Loving not God Fearing and this thought became deeply embedded in my psyche. I feel immense Gratitude to the Almighty God for having gifted them to me. My mother proclaimed that everything happens for the best and in retrospect, that is always so. My father’s advice to me, when I was diagnosed the first time and I stated rather vehemently that I would fight cancer was :”Why do you want to fight it? Why don’t you face it? Fighting is negative and aggressive in nature whereas Facing is positive and shows that you Can and Will overcome it. “These words made a deep impact on me and I share them with whoever crosses my path. Revealling in Positivity from an early age, my passion is to live in such a way so as to pass on this attitude to each and every section of society. This habit is so deeply ingrained in me that it has become a natural part of my persona. God had already planned the purpose of my existence. Professionally equipping me in the fields of Social Work and Education, He ensured that I learnt a great deal in the University of Life. My journey has been strewn with innumerable hurdles including broken bones, miscarriages, a still born in the eighth month, premature twins, many surgeries, cancer twice and septicaemia 3 times also. I have spent the last 26 years counselling cancer patients and their families with unbridled passion and dedication. I call myself a Conqueror rather than a Survivor and started the Apollo Cancer Support Group on the 8th of March, 2004.With the Abundant Grace of God, I have inaugurated many similar support groups too. Since October 2015 I have been counselling patients from my residence in Chennai. I am available 24×7 as a pillar of strength to countless distraught people needing emotional, mental and spiritual succour the world over. As an Inspirational Speaker I have addressed Schools, Colleges, Universities, Hospitals, Corporates, NGOs, Clubs and even a gathering at the Lok Sabha Secretariat in New Delhi. Invited by the Department of State, USA, in October 2008 as a participant for the first ever IVLP (International Visitors Leadership Program) on Breast Cancer, we delved into the various aspects of Awareness, Prevention and also the latest trends in Treatment aimed towards Cure. I lead by example and the ace up my sleeve is “If I can do it, so can you”. The simple methods I use to illuminate the incidents in my life and the unique treasures I have discovered along my journey, are mentioned in my book I Inspire. These treasures help me face adversities and conquer, not only cancer but LIFE as well. My belief in God, the Power of Love and Prayer and my attitude of gratitude inspires, encourages and gives hope and strength to many. With God’s Blessings I have received innumerable awards for my unstinting work in this field. Countless articles and videos on YouTube have been like a guiding light at the end of the tunnel for many. I have also embarked on my PODCAST Neerja Malik I Embracean audio journal that explores my life’s reflections with personal experiences, heartwarming stories and how the qualities of resilience, strength and courage go a long way in manifesting physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and happiness. My daily mantras are “God is Great”, “This too shall Pass” and “Laughter is the best Medicine”.
